PLN: Week 12- Post 24

I read a recent article titled "It Takes a Whole Village (or High School)" and this article was written by Karl Fisch. In this article Karl talks about the Make a Difference week that Heritage High School recently had. During this week Heritage hosted a visit from Ishmael Beah who wrote the book A Long Way Gone and in his book he talks about his experiences as a child soldier. Part of the welcome given by Heritage was the presentation of a video which showed the effort the students had put forth toward M.A.D. Week. Heritage raised over $14,000 to help the children in Sierra Leone, and one of their students delivered the aid in person. (You can view the powerful video they made by following the link)

This article relates to me because as a student here at Arapahoe we have a huge rivalry between Heritage and it was hard to see them work so hard to make a difference because we don't really like them (which goes along with the rivalry of course), sure it was hard to see them in this light, but it was also refreshing to see them want to help others who are less fortunate.

This article also relates to the world because there are so many people around the world who need our help and who are not as fortunate as we are here in a free country and this is our time to reach out an help like Heritage did. From personal experience, you get such an awesome feeling helping others so whats stopping us? This close to the holidays there are so many ways for us to help others and this is our time!

So what is stopping us? If it's our time, what should we do?
